A brief administrative guide for centres 2007-2008

Please read the instructions in this guide carefully as they provide important  information vital to the successful administration of the qualifications


There are three levels to the suite of qualifications. Entry Level is normally suitable for Team Programme students and Levels 1 and 2 for Company Programme students.


• OCR Entry Level Certificate in Enterprise (Team Programme) Scheme Code (03407)
OCR Level 1 Certificate in Enterprise (Young Enterprise) Scheme Code (03408)
OCR Level 2 Certificate in Enterprise (Young Enterprise) Scheme Code (03409)

All three qualifications are accredited by QCA to the National Qualifications Framework.
To use this guide, it is important to understand that each qualification has the following structure:

The following guide identifies the key steps in the administration of each mode of assessment for the above qualifications. f your centre has not run YE qualifications before the centre will need to obtain approval. (Please note centre approval can take up to 6weeks)

Obtain the appropriate datasheet(s) from the Information Bureau at OCR, Coventry (02476 851509) or from the OCR web site at www.ocr.org.uk.

Complete the appropriate Centre Approval Form (inside the datasheet) and return to OCR Operations, Coventry. On Centre Approval, centres will receive Tutor’s Handbooks that include sample assessment materials

 
5 September 2007 or on  approval
Entry Pack dispatched to all approved centres for all three qualifications.  Entry packs will be despatched to all approved centres. These will contain:
•Candidate qualification entry form (NQF1)
•OCR NQF qualifications Administration Catalogue.
Area Board Qualification Co-ordinators to agree with centres how the qualification will be funded and paid for. Area Boards to agree with centres how certificates should be presented to students.
October 2007

Centres/students decide upon the appropriate level of qualification entry during the Autumn term.
Using the NQF 1 form centres may enter candidates for the qualification(s) or unit(s)

Upon receipt of the entry packs, centres may enter candidates for full qualifications and/or units of qualifications. Centres are advised to read the relevant Young Enterprise section of the Administration Catalogue for specific advice on entering candidates for full qualifications/units of qualifications using the entry form NQF1.

Entry to the qualifications is only open to students registered as part of a Young Enterprise Company or Team programme. The YE company’s unique registration number, to be found on the Certificate of Incorporation, is required for completion of the entry form NQF1.

Centres may enter candidates for qualifications/units of qualifications at any time during the academic year.

Students entering level 1 or 2 qualifications will automatically be entered for the timetable examination unless OCR are otherwise notified.
All entries for the Level 1
and 2 Unit 2 timetabled examination must be made by 14 February 2006

Centre Link Teacher to liase with Centre Examinations Officer on qualification entries.
Area Board Qualifications Co-ordinator to monitor progress of entries to ensure that candidates are entered and fees paid.
November 2007 – March 2008
Centres undertaking Young Enterprise activities perform tasks relevant to the completion of all on demand units. Centres dispatch candidate work to OCR appointed Examiner - moderators

All on demand units ( see below) can be ompleted at any time during the year:
Entry Level - Units 1,2,3 and 4
Level 1- Unit1
Level 2 - Unit 1

Unit certificates for OCR-set assignments and centre assessed units will be forwarded to centres from OCR on an ongoing basis. This will depend upon when work was submitted to the OCR Examiner-moderator.

Young Enterprise National Office will report quarterly to Area Boards on the results of OCR-set assignments and centre assessed units.

Dispatch of single copy of case study to centres Link teachers should copy and distribute the case study to candidates and have a meeting to discuss. If centres have not already registered candidates with OCR they must do so now.

Last date for entering or amending candidates for the timetabled examinations

All centres entering candidates for OCR-timetabled examinations in 2005/06 (Unit 2 at Levels 1 and 2) are required to have submitted NQF1 entries to OCR Operations, Coventry by this date.

Requests for special examination arrangements must be made by the Centre Examinations Officer.

Students entering level 1 or 2 qualifications will automatically be entered for the timetable examination unless OCR are otherwise notified

 

Centres to ensure candidates are entered for the appropriate level. Centres may wish to enter candidates earlier than this date to allow time for checking entries but centres should note No changes, amendments or additions for timetabled examinations can be made after 5th February 2008
29th February 2008
Dispatch of OCR-timetabled case study material and question papers to centres.  Case studies and question materials will be sent to Centre Examinations Officers 3 weeks before the date of the timetabled examination.

The Centre Examinations Officer must check paper packets ans examination materials on receipt, without opening them and contact OCR Operastions on 02476 470033 if there any problems. Refer to Section 7 of the Administrative Guide to Vocational Qualifications (A850), Centre responsibilities fo OCR Timetabled Examinations.

11 March 2008
Date of timetabled examinations for 2007/8 Timetabled examinations must be taken on this day in the candidates’ own centre. It may be taken at any time during the day. If there are any problems, please contact OCR Operations on 02476 470033. Refer to Section 7 of the Administrative Guide to Vocational Qualifications (A850), Centre responsibilities fo OCR Timetabled Examinations.

Centre sends examination scripts directly to OCR Examiner-moderator

All scripts must be dispatched in Unit Submission Folders (green folders supplied).

The Centre Examinations Officer must ensure the dispatch of all scripts in USFs within 24 hours. 

 

Area Board Qualifications Co-ordinators to monitor that   this dispatch has taken place.
3rd June 2008
Results and certificates to  centres for OCR-timetabled examinations.

Timetabled examination results slips and unit certificates will be dispatched to centres. For those candidates already having accreditation for on demand units, full award certificates will also be issued.

Appeals procedure details can be found in the Tutor’s Handbooks (dispatched upon centre approval and available on the OCR website)

Examination results will be available to Area Boards on the YE web site the following week.

A fee will be charged for re-issue of certificates if errors have not been notified within six months of certification

Certificates presented to students following procedure agreed in second box above.
